Google Earth review

With Google Earth, the world's geographic information becomes available at your fingertips. Google Earth lets you view the front door of your home from your computer. How is this possible? Google Earth combines both satellite imagery, maps and Google Search to make this information readily available. All you have to do is type an address and zoom in.

What Google Earth can Be Used For?

Google Earth can help you search for parks, schools, restaurants and hotels. Additionally, you can get driving directions and view the buildings in the local area. Many industries can benefit from supplying their employees with Google Earth. The industries that could benefit include real estate companies, engineering firms, military, geological development and aviation.

Running into Problems?

One of the benefits about Google is that they are usually thorough in their products. They created a toolkit of tutorials to ensure maximized understanding when using Google Earth. One of the uses you can get from Google Earth is to create storytelling maps, and you can add them into embed Youtube videos.

How Google Earth Works

Google Earth runs from a Web browser and can switch between 2D and 3D views. While you have to download the software, you still need to be connected to the Internet to use it. Google's servers can give you access to social, geographical and political data. You can view the population and crime statistics for the area.

Control Scheme Intuitive

For the most basic functions, Google Earth provides a highly intuitive control scheme. However, if you want to use the more in-depth features, you may have to read the instructions in the online user manual. Once you understand the basics, navigation becomes secondhand nature.

Google Earth is Free

The basic Google Earth client will not cost a penny. Those who want more in-depth features can get Google Earth Plus, which integrates the GPS and is a faster version; it only costs $20 per year. The software is available to platforms including: Windows, Linux and Mac.

Cons of Google Earth

One of the problems commonly associated with Google Earth is that it is crash prone and can slow your system. Additionally, the local map photography content is spotty and inaccurate at times.

Overall, Google Earth is an informative and invaluable tool that Google graciously offers for free and at a low price for the more detailed version. Users have access to a growing wealth of user-supplied content that is great for education and exploring geographic locations. People who love to travel can view and learn about their location before they ever leave home.

This is just so good; some older than 5 years but still; ability to re-visit never to be seen again places; to visit your heritage land there are no words to thank Google for doing this.
